here’s a story for you.... During an inspection early this spring,  I came across a newly split colony with a poorly mates queen.  So, like the rules depict, I proceeded to locate and pinch the queen.  The problem however, was the queen took flight before I could pick her up and flew out of sight.  Fast forward a week- the now queenless colony had a visitor, the old Queen!! 

Never have I experienced a queen leave a hive And then return after almost seven full days!
