Yesterday August 12th was a new one for me!  I was home around 3pm when i noticed LOTS of activity outside of a NUC with a virgin queen.  I was excited since it was Most likely her returning from her mating flight, but the activity didn’t slow down.  Slowly there were more and more bees circling and crawling through the grass next to the hive.  With peaked curiosity I went out to investigate and found my newly mated queen just chillin in the grass.  She must have somehow overshot her landing and wound up 6 feet from the hive.  So thankful to be in the right place at the right time that I quickly scooped her up and placed her on the landing board.  She quickly hurried in and will hopefully be starting to lay here shortly.
